Choosing to ski Kitzsteinhorn provides families plenty of beginners' terrain and quiet village life for those who want to avoid a large presence of après ski and commercialized tourism. A hidden gem for a quiet week in Austria. WhereLocated in the Europa Sport Ski Region in the Tyrol Mountain areas of Austria, the Kitzsteinhorn ski resort is the quiet but charming village resort alternative to the well known Zell am See resort. Accessible by rail or flight you will have to take a taxi or hire a car to reach the Kitzsteinhorn ski resort. On the slopesWhen you ski Kitzsteinhorn you'll see it has kept its quaint village atmosphere while providing both intermediate and beginner slopes to its visitors. However, experts will not find much to challenge them here unless you hire a local tour guide to take you off piste. Since the slopes are well maintained, beginners will feel comfortable on the wide and open trails down the Maiskogel Mountain but you will want to hire a car to reach the base of the gondola. Off the slopesMany people who ski Kitzsteinhorn enjoy taking a tour to the giant scenic reservoirs of the Pinzgau valley and also partake in a guided rail trip up the Kiztsteinhorn glacier. There is not much offered in the way of après ski activities, but for those who are not satisfied with the small charming eateries and bars, there are plenty of additional options 5km away in the Zell am See village.
