Where
Located in the centre of Carinthia above Ossiacher Lake, ski Gerlitzen for some amazing views of the Austrian Lakeland from 1911m at the top of Gerlitzen Mountain! It is the largest part of the Villach ski mountains offering 51km of groomed pistes. It can be reached via a number of airports, with Klagenfurt Airport around 45 mins away along the A10 or A11 autobahns and Ljubljana airport in under 90 minutes.
On the slopes
With 51km of pistes and 15 lifts the Gerlitzen ski resort is the largest of the resorts around the city of Carinthia offering the widest array of slopes to beginners and intermediates. This has earned it the reputation as a family friendly ski resort. The slopes are mostly wide, open, and carefully groomed so that all levels can enjoy the ski holiday adventure with the 7.5 kilometres long Kloesterle run a great workout for most.
The area is easy to navigate and with an altitude of almost 2000m the slopes of Gerlitzen offer a fine view for those who visit during the ski season which is December thru April. For those who like a challenge the Klosterle slope offers that 7.5km piste that has the full 1400m vertical. There are also some great lips and off piste for snowboarders to enjoy at the same time. Families may also enjoy sending their children to the ski school which will supervise and teach children to ski and play in the snow at as young as 18 months. There is also 26kms of cross country trails for those who want to try.

For those looking for more outdoor activities as an alternative to snowing the Gerlitzen ski resort area has plenty to offer with snowshoeing tours, sleigh rides, and tobogganing. The nearby village of Villach offers many shops, restaurants, bars, and night clubs for those looking for après ski activities. There are also many restaurants in the area for those who want to sample the local Austrian cuisine and contemporary traditional cuisine of this great resort.
