Many Austria ski resorts are located at mid-altitude, so the snow can be a bit patchy. Some resorts may not be challenging enough for advanced skiers, but the facilities for beginners are usually good.

After a day on the slopes, you will find plenty of nightlife, ranging from drinking and dancing to folk music and tea-dances. However, it's worth remembering that the Austrian music scene is not particularly modern.

The provinces of Salzburg, Tyrol and Styria have the highest density of Austrian skiing holiday options, but alpine skiing is also possible in Carinthia, Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Vorarlberg. It's most famous slope is the Hahnenkamm downhill in Kitzbuhel.

It's the ideal destination at any time of the year and has eight year-round winter sports areas.
