Where
Twice hosting the Winter Olympics, ski Innsbruck and see the pedigree of the slopes, by virtue of that fact you're enjoying the very same slopes! You also are staying in the city that is the heart of the Austrian Tirol (or Tyrol). You can fly direct to the city, and enjoy access to the massive Olympia SkiWorld, which offers 9 skiing and snowboarding regions, 80 mountain railways and lifts, and over 285km of runs. Access is obviously best from Innsbruck airport itself, although Salzburg or Bolzano transfers are around 90 minutes.
On the slopes
Ski holidays in Innsbruck ski resort can take advantage of all that Olympia SkiWorld Innsbruck system has to offer with it's 9 resorts. This includes Igls and Mutters, perfect for novice and intermediate skiers, or Patscherkofel and Hafelekar, with steep, challenging runs for more advanced skiers. Axamer Lizum has a wide variety of trails, including the 1976 Olympic Women's Downhill Course, which is a favourite of intermediate skiers. The nearby Stubai Glacier, with 18 lifts and 35 miles of runs, ensures great skiing year round. Immediate slopes close to Innsbruck itself are a little limited though - so you will need to get out and about.
