Ski resorts

Choosing the right ski resorts is not always the simplest of tasks. With skiing resort holidays on offer throughout Europe, USA and Canada you sometimes need to know a little more about the area and the type of ski resorts you're looking for.

For example in Europe the open expanses of some French slopes are in stark contrast to some amazing Austrian tree-lined pistes.

Likewise, ski resorts come in all shapes and sizes for nightlife and apres-ski. Depending on your personal choices and circumstances there are certain ski resorts that families might want to steer clear of - likewise if you are young and with 20 mates, there's more family oriented skiing resorts that may not provide you with enough action and late night options.

So what's GoSki going to do?

Over the next few months we decided the best thing to do was to write reviews of over 500 of the leading ski resorts across Europe and the US and Canada. From a brief summary through to a grading system for the skiing, boarding, apres-ski and activities, you will have an at a glance guide to the ski resort holiday that you really fancy - especially as you'll be spending your hard earned cash there!

We also want to make it simple for you to find your holiday and then plug in all the other bits round it - like ski hire, ski transfers, lift passes and even be able to sort out your airport transfer or your car rental. That way you can organise it all in good time and then sit back and wait for your holiday knowing you have covered every base.

How do you choose the right Ski resort?

We suggest you combine a number of factors including :

  • your level of skiing - no point going to a beginners resort if you're an expert!

  • facilities available at the destination - make sure you have everything you need there for children or or for you

  • distance from aiports - if time is money or you have children choosing resorts within an hour can be a god send - especially on your return journey

  • 'exclusivity' - we all want the best but that usually costs the earth

  • accommodation type - some resorts just don't do chalets or apartHotels, so choose based on your needs as a familiy or group
