Where
With stunning views, ski Going and you're based in the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser ski area at an altitude of 800m. Going ski resort sits at one end of 250km Ski Welt circuit, a tour of 11 villages that extends all the way to Westendorf at the other end. Access is easy via Innsbruck and Salzburg airports in particular - being just over the hour for transfers. Munich is also within 90 minutes which makes this a great resort for weekend too.
On the slopes
With good nursery slopes, ski Going this winter and benefit from great pistes and conditions for beginners and intermediates in particular. In the immediate area there's 20 pistes, covering 52km, that rise up to 1550m. The real prize, however, is access to the 250km Ski Welt circuit and all it's challenging slopes, terrain parks and tree-lined pistes.
With mostly easy cruising above and below the tree line, you are actually able to ski from village to village through some stunning scenery. The skiing and snowboarding in this area is excellent with good snow history too. You are also able to enjoy Kitzbühel's ski area thanks to a gondola between Westendorf and a point near Kirchberg (approximately 4km long) opening up all their slopes to you on the same lift pass. Off the slopes
In a quiet village, the biggest luxury in Going is the five-star Hotel Stanglwirt, which has a Lipizzaner riding school. There's a range of other, less expensive accommodation, and enough bars and restaurants to provide a pleasantly relaxing après ski experience. Bars and restaurants really instill a flavour of the Austrian Alps and we recommend you join in the drinking and eating every night to really expereince an Austrian ski holiday to the full!
