Ski Filzmoos

If you ski Filzmoos, you get tradition - this resort has been popular since Edwardian times and is for those who know their winter sports! With access to the ski Amadé region, the skiing and snowboarding is unbelievable as you explore all 850km of pistes.

Where

Ski Filzmoos and you are at the foot of the Bischofsmütze mountain and Dachstein glacier. This ski resort has been popular since Edwardian times, when it was a popular destination for the wealthy crowds from Vienna. The skiing and snowboarding is best suited to beginners and intermediates and there's a great snow record. Access is easy from a number of airports including Salzburg in under an hour and Klagenfurt, Munich and Innsbruck.

On the slopes

As part of the Salzburger SportWelt and therefore also Ski Amadé skiing areas, ski filzmoos and you have access to over 860km of piste across 25 resorts. However, closer to home, Filzmoos and its neighbour Neuberg offer 32km of piste served by 17 lifts. There's 17km worth in Filzmoos itself which are best for intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders. There are rarely big crowds on the slopes - meaning you get lots of time here.

Set at the foot of the Bischofsmütze Mountain, the skiing and snowboarding reaches a peak at 1,597m, and drops down to the resort level of 1060m. You can also get one of the ski bus transfers to Flachau and Flachauwinkl in the Salzburger Sportwelt three times a week if you're getting bored locally.

Off the slopes

Filzmoos is a typical Austrian village dating back to Edwardian times, a perfect choice for winter holidays. Because there is no through-traffic it is quiet, but the après-ski is recommended - there's a good selection of friendly restaurants and bars. You can find international favourites such as pizza, or try some of the local food. Away from the slopes there are other activities to keep you busy including an indoor pool, sleigh rides and some good cross-country skiing.
