Where
Started in 1977, ski Risoul offers a southern French skiing and snowboarding experience. There's plenty of snow and a variety of terrain, as this ski resort is linked to neighbouring Vars 1850 for a total of 174km of pistes, collectively called the Domaine de la Forêt Blanche ski area. There are good connections, with Marseilles only a 2 hours, 30 minutes drive.

On the slopes
Ideal for the beginner and intermediate skier or boarder, ski holidays in Risoul offer wide nursery slopes that are located in the ski resort village centre, and there are numerous easy runs close to the village. Intermediates will find plenty of sweeping tree lined blues and reds. Advanced skiers should head to the Vars side of the mountain for challenging black runs and moguls, and good off piste around Risoul. Boarders, meanwhile, will enjoy one of France's largest board parks.

Off the slopes
Accommodation in Risoul ranges from cottages through to rented apartments and hotels, with a selection to fit every budget. You'll find a reasonable selection of restaurants offering everything from traditional French cuisine to fast food favourites like pizza. Après-ski centres around a selection of lively bars and discos - it's not one of the hottest resorts, but you should find plenty to keep you busy.
