On the slopes
While a great deal of the snow is artificial at the Pamporovo ski resort the side effect of that is that the weather is usually bright and sunny making for a pleasant ride down the slopes for beginner and intermediate skiers. Ski Pamporovo as a beginner or intermediate and you get three and four pistes respectively.
There is one advanced slope for more skilled skiers making a grand total of 18km of pistes - but most advanced skiers will find the slope is still not engaging. For those who want to learn and those with children, this resort is a great place with many ski instructors on location to aid in the learning process. With a maximum vertical drop of 276m and five chairs getting around the mountain is not too hard and also is not the most expensive if you want to try out skiing or snowboarding in Bulgaria for the first time./P>
Off the slopes
Despite the fact that the slopes may be more mellow at the Pamporovo ski resort area the nightlife is anything but, which is why many people enjoy visiting time after time. Since the area is built in a long strip those looking for excitement can jump on the shuttle bus and head down from the hotels to the local bars, nightclubs, and restaurants. Also, there are many local shops and Bulgarian architecture in the city that you will not want to miss out during your stay in the area which are also accessible along the shuttle bus line.
WE LIKE
- Excellent snow and sun records - up to 270 sun days a year!
- Excellent resort to learn to ski or snowboard with some good instructors and schools
- As with other Bulgarian resorts - great value for money holidays
|
WE DON'T LIKE
- Limited runs and no interlinked resorts means it's a little limiting for intermediates and experts
- Limited pistes means it can get busy on weekends as locals come out to enjoy the sun
- If you live a little way out - taxi fares are extortionate compared to great value of everything else
