Ski Bansko and you get an up and coming ski resort in Bulgaria that continues to develop while holding onto its authentic Bulgarian village charm. Best for beginners and intermediate skiers this is one to consider.

Where

Located in Bulgaria, ski Bansko to experience some of the traditional Bulgaria. With airports and rail access the main ways into the resort, you can also drive. However, depending on the snow conditions you may be delayed upon arrival whichever route you take. Tranfser times prevent weekend skiing or boarding, in reality, but Sofia is about 3 hours.

On the slopes

Open from December through April the Bansko ski resort is often called one of the most versatile ski areas given its many different slopes located on just one mountain area. Yet, despite the differences in the 70km of pistes, the slopes are best for beginners and intermediate skiers with 5 and 8 slopes respectively while there is only one expert slope.

However, for families and those who are not experienced skiers the Bansko slopes can be the perfect place to learn with ski instruction and 16 lifts as well as one gondola that are modern and easy to access. With a vertical drop or 1610, one snow park, and one half pipe it's also an excellent place for snowboarders who want to fine tune their sport. If you ski Bankso you also have a great nursery area and plenty of traditional sites to take in from the slopes given the fact that it is one of the only results in Bulgaria that has not modernized with the times.

Off the slopes

One of the perks of the Bankso ski resort is that it is located in a small village that has not been overtaken by progress. This does not mean that the resort does not have plenty to do, as there are many restaurants, strip bars, night clubs, and local pubs in the area to frequent if you want to spend some true holiday time out partying.

However, it does mean that you can experience the thrill of a small town Bulgarian city in the quaint village that surrounds the resort as well as the wonderful local food of the region. There are plenty of local shops you will want to explore and small bakery areas during your stay that are also well worth the time to stop in and try out.
