Where

Located in a sunny, well-sheltered spot, ski Verbier for the charm of a traditional resort and the opportunity to explore the massive 4 Valleys ski area, which includes La Tzoumaz, Nendaz, Veysonnaz, Thyon and Les Collons. This extends Verbier's 70 slopes and 120kms of terrain into an incredible 400kms of slopes. Geneva is the closest airport.

On the slopes

Ski holidays in Verbier offer slopes to suit all standards, though intermediates and experts will find most to please them. Beginners aren't forgotten however, with 32 per cent of runs allocated to them including some good nursery slopes. With over 100 lifts and 400km of pistes, there are challenges aplenty, both on and off-piste. Snowboarders are also well-catered for, with a terrain park with rails, kickers, gap jumps and more.

After dark the choices include a selection of lively bars and clubs, but also classical music performances in the local concert hall.
