On the slopes
With 27 slopes and 24km of pistes, you could ski San Isidro this winter if you want a small intimate modern resort. Smaller than its other Spanish counterparts, there's quite a bit of variety for it's beginner and low intermediate skiing and snowboarding visitors. A large majority of the ski resort is best suited for intermediate skiers, but there's ski schools for those who need to fine tune their sport or take it up for the first time.
With 12 lifts in total, there is easy transportation throughout the resort and they are able to accommodate skiers quite easily for the density of tourists who frequent the resort. With an average snow depth of 200cm most of the snow on the slopes is real but some artificial snow cannons are also used given the low altitude of 1520cm. Here are also five trails for cross country skiers and plenty of pistes for snowboarders to enjoy as well. For those who like to sightsee "The basic Ski" is a popular attraction allowing participants to glide/walk along the snow at a leisurely pace.
Off the slopes
The village of Proma is entertaining in itself, to wonder through as the architecture is a joy as it is mixed between medieval and Roman influence giving the local shops and restaurants a unique flavour and strong character who well those on holiday with a smile. For a true experience of the Proma Region head to the nearby town of Confinal where you can see the historical church of Confinal and visit authentic restaurants and multi-adventured winter treks organized by the locals. There are also many more historical sites, nightclubs, bars, and spas throughout the area for those who want contemporary activities and accommodations as well.
WE LIKE
- Good skiing for a small resort with only 600 beds - especially for intermediates
- Good snow cover throughout season due to altitude
- The runs are wide and pretty cruisy on the whole - and they are uncrowded!
|
WE DON'T LIKE
- If you are a good skier or boarder - you may get bored here for a full week
- No other resorts really close by to explore whilst being based here
- Not the easiest to get to - Zaragoza being the nearest airport 3+ hours away
