Cerler, one of the highest resorts in the Pyrenees and also boasting Spains largest terrain park, is a great Spanish resort. If you want a slightly old fashioned, charming, uncommercialised resort then this could be for you.

Where

Set in the Spanish province of Huesca, Cerler is the highest resort in the Aragonese Pyrenees. It is set amidst the spectacular scenery of the Benasque valley, with majestic mountains all around, rising to 3,000 m.The nearest airports are Zaragoza, which is 228km away to the south and Barcelona, which is 270km south east of Cerler.

On the slopes

Cerler is a purpose built resort and is probably best for intermediate skiers and boarders with a large number of the runs here graded blue or red. The terrain park is Spains largest, it's a new 2.5 km long park complete with 18 elements, including rail boxes, big jumps a quarter and a half pipe.

Ski area

If you ski Cerler you are also in the ski region of the Aragonese Pyrenees.

Off the slopes

The resort itself boasts 6 restaurants and 2 bars, this is not a resort that will offer wild apres ski, but it more than makes up for it in charming hospitality. There is a good range of accommodation, of note is the 3* Hotel Monte Alba which sits at the foot of the pistes offering great views and a good size swimming pool. The nearby town of Benasque is also only a short ride away and offers another option if you don't want to stay in resort.
