Even as a warm-up, ski Cairngorm and you will see a huge transformation. Now better than ever, with the north facing corries and slopes now accessible via the new funicular railway. It's easy to get there by car, train and bus, with rail links to Inverness, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, while you can fly into Inverness from London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham.

On the slopes

You can ski Cairngorm any time between December and March, depending on the snowfall. 2008/9 was particularly good snow. There is plenty here for both skiers and snowboarders, with over 30km of ski runs and a fully maintained snowboard fun park. From beginner to expert, everyone will find something here to enjoy. There's also cross-country, telemark, ski touring and ski mountaineering available in the area, and a good ski school.

Off the slopes

Whatever type of ski accommodation you are looking for, you'll find it here in the Cairngorm ski resort - or rather in Aviemore. You can choose from bed and breakfasts, guesthouses, hotels, self-catering, log cabins, camping, caravanning or a hostel. There are some great choices for food and drinks on the mountain, including the Cas Bar, which can be found in the Day Lodge at CairnGorm Mountain, and The Ptarmigan Restaurant, which at 1097m is the highest restaurant in the UK.
