Where
If you ski Hovden you are located in Upper Setesdal. A perfect ski resort for families, this beautiful setting is surrounded by mountains, birch woods and lakes and lies about 800m above sea level. You can ski, snowboard, or enjoy the 170 km of groomed cross-country trails. The season runs from November until May, with plenty of snow cannons to supplement the natural snowfall. Access is a relatively painless, if a little lengthy, process.
On the slopes
Ski Hovden and you get a ski resort that will suit families and intermediate cruisers best. There's plenty of well-groomed open pistes, and some wonderful skiing in the trees. With 28 slopes at your disposal, there's a fairly even spread ability-wise. Children will be delighted by Tusseland, the children's area. The slopes are gentle, and there are numerous activities for children including the zoo and amusement park ski trail, where they will find familiar characters among the trees. For snowboarders there is a terrain park with various rails and jumps.
Off the slopes
Accommodation is pleasant in Hovden, with choices to suit various tastes and budgets, while the après ski is based in the various restaurants and bars in town. There's lots to do off the slopes, including a baby pool, a beach and a water slide for older children, and jacuzzis and a swimming pool for parents - you can show your bravery by jumping out of the pool and taking a snow bath! In addition you'll find over 170 km cross-country trails.
