Where?

Folgàrida is a small ski resort in the centre of Val di Sole, Valley of the Sun, which runs north west of Trento city. It is located in the Brenta Dolomites National Park in the middle of a pine forest. Whilst it is a modern built resort everything has been done for it to blend in with the local surroundings, so no buildings are taller than the trees! The views over the Dolomites are quite simply stunning. The closest airports are Verona and Bergamo.

On the slopes

The two separate localities of Folgàrida and Marilléva were connected to create a ski area with 50km of runs.Whats even better is that there is a link with Madonna di Campiglio so you can ski an additional 100km of runs. There is snowmaking here on 90% of trails so snow cover is good, despite the abundance of sunshine. The snow here is usually naturally very good due to the Ortles Cevedale Group-one of the highest oriental Alps.The skiing here is particularly good for beginners and intermediates but there are some good blacks. One worth mentioning is the Nera Folgarida, a particularly challenging descent. This is not a great resort for freestylers but there is a small snowpark above Marilléva.

Off the slopes

The valley has 15,000 beds, with the main accommodation being hotel based. For families we would recommend staying in Folgàrida itself. Marilléva has good ski in ski out accommodation, although it tends to be concrete blocks on the side of trails. There is plenty of other more attractive accommodation around the valley. For other winter activities you can try snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, skating, and sledging. There is a also a great ice stadium here. A good selection of bars and restaurants are also available.
