Ski Pyhä

This winter, ski Pyhä if you need a place the whole family can enjoy. With plenty of hills and runs and a guarantee of snow that will delight the family, skiing or snowboarding here includes live music, great slopes and a great resort.

Where

Located on the Pyhä Mountain, ski Pyhä and most of the area that surrounds the ski resort is a national park with some stunning sights that you cannot experience anywhere else. Snow is a guarantee in the area due to its location as the Artic circle is directly below the resort and in the middle of the Finnish Lapland. The location also allows for wonderful Snow Cannons and plenty of activities for all ages.

On the slopes

Ski Pyhä ski resort because it's a great location for skiers of all ages and families because there are a combination of 12 runs that offer all levels a fair amount of choices. Plus, with snow cannons, a half-pipe, and a large off-piste area there really is something for everyone which is probably why the Finnish Freestyle team uses the Phya ski resort area for their training.

Although the resort sits at a 214m altitude the highest piste at 482m makes every run worthwhile. There is no need to worry about the height however, as there are seven lifts to get you where you want to be. And new in 2010/2011, they have invested in a super fast 6 person PyhäExpress chair lift - 4 minutes to get to the top.

Off the slopes

When you are not busy running through the piste or snow cannons you can head into the town surrounding the Pyhä ski resort to see the natural park area or check out some live music. Known for its live music bar and concert scene with plenty of clubs and entertainment to wear you out if the ski slopes were not enough. Plus, the resort has Sky Bistro inside on the top of the retreat for the perfect ending of a perfect trip down the slopes.

WE LIKE

  • Pistes are reasonably challenging - even the beginner ones
  • The pistes are completely devoid of other skiers and boarders - perfect to try new things out
  • Absolutely no queues for lifts - which with the new 6 man lift for 2010/2011 will be great

WE DON'T LIKE

  • Not a great place to learn to ski - outside the really easy there's quite a jump to the blues
  • Underlying the powder and recently fallen snow is a lot of ice
  • No point coming here if you like the après-ski lively and young - it's not!
