Ski resorts in Utah

Utah

The ski resorts in Utah are famous for having some of the lightest, deepest powder snow in the world. These favourable conditions are the result of storms that gather strength over the warm waters of the Great Salt Lake and dump light, dry snow over the nearby mountains.

Thus, Utah skiing holidays should not be ignored!! With about 500 inches of snow per year, the ski resorts in Utah offer fantastic, reliable powder skiing and snowboarding opportunities for a long season (compared to some resorts that is).

Visiting Utah

Ski holidays in Utah are the perfect opportunity to try new activities, like snowmobile treks, hiking and sleigh rides. After a day in the open air, you will find a great selection of restaurants, bars and clubs to keep you occupied. Many Utah ski resorts are within an hour's drive of Salt Lake City International airport, meaning you don't spend too much time on the road.

Utah ski resorts have various terrains to suit all levels of skier and snowboarder, from beginners to experts. One of the most popular all-round resorts is Park City, which manages to combine traditional charm with modern amenities, perfect for family travel. By contrast, Deer Valley is the ultimate designer resort, but is expensive.

Most skiing in Utah takes place in three adjacent canyons within easy reach of Salt Lake City. There are 7 resorts fairly close together and you can buy a lift pass to cover them all. Other Utah ski resorts are situated along the Wasatch Range.

Accommodation was improved when Utah hosted the Olympic Winter Games in 2002 and visitors are still benefiting from this. Whatever type of skiing holiday you want, you will find the right accommodation. Hotels range from budget to luxury, there are also romantic retreats and mountain chalets big enough for a family.
