Ski Big Sky

If you ski Big Sky in Montana, high altitude skiing and snowboarding in USA is what you get. With ski holidays in this resort offering varied ski slopes for all levels and powder and big verticals on expert runs, amazing!

Where

If you ski Big Sky, you're in the heart of the Yellowstone country. Ski holidays in Montana are away from the bustle of Colorado resorts. With a relatively swift hours transfer from the Bozeman airport, you can be on the slopes. For European skiers - ski flights will require an internal transfer, though this resort offers skiing and snowboarding at some of it's best for all levels.

On the slopes

From skiing to the door to value for money, ski holidays in Big Sky offer uncrowded pistes with over 400 inches of annual snowfall (that's 33 feet or 10metres of snow!!!). There's three mountains to play with with some great tree-lined runs. For both skiing and boarding you have wide pistes and near deserted runs right across all three mountains. For boarders there's a full-on terrain park (Swifty Park and Ambush Park) with half-pipes, rails and jibs. Great ski schools and ski instructors ensure you can learn and play!

Off the slopes

Ski holidays in Big Sky provide dining options ranging from sushi to pizzas and even local game. The village centre is car free and with the après-ski being good but not too lively, there is plenty for everyone. Off piste activities for non-skiers and those wanting a break include all the usual winter activity culprits like sleigh rides and snowmobiling, but also horse riding and fly fishing. There is a lot for families in this resort - not least the great tuition and extensive beginner slopes.

WE LIKE

  • Ski area (shared with neighbouring Moonlight Basin) is now slightly bigger than Vail, with the bonus of the 2nd biggest vertical descent in USA
  • Excellent snow record with avg snowfall 10m+ each season, amazing skiing for all levels
  • By far the quietest slopes you will find in a major resort anywhere, lift queues are unheard of

WE DON'T LIKE

  • Many condos are spread widely away from the lift base
  • Base area lacks a little charm and a village focus with the nearest town 62km away
  • Resort amenities are limited, with little choice of nightlife, not a resort for party animals!
