Where

Located in the Swiss Alps, Ski Arosa for a taste of a traditional Alpine winter resort. Surrounded on all sides by snowy peaks, the sun shines for eight to twelve hours a day and, due to its northerly location, there is always plenty of snow. With easy access via roads, you also benefit from a relatively easy transfer from Zurich airport or via the local train station.

On the slopes

Ski Arosa and you get skiing and snowboarding for all levels and abilities. Beginners and children will enjoy the Arosa ski resort's easy slopes at Tschuggen or the quiet Inner-Arosa area, while intermediates will find great views on the Obersee-Bruggerhorn Blue run and a steeper challenge on the Weisshorn. Although there are few black runs, the variety of off-piste terrain will make up for it. For boarders there is a terrain park with jumps, rails, and a 150m half-pipe, as well as the Bruggerhorn "free-ride mountain".

WE LIKE

  • Classic winter sports resort ambience, with lots going on other than skiing and boarding
  • Few queues on the lifts and generally not one of the busiest resorts
  • Choice of good nursery slopes at village or mid-mountain level

WE DON'T LIKE

  • Slopes too limited for mileage-hungry intermediates
  • Few challenging pistes for experts - though there is good off-piste
  • Spread-out village lacks a heart, and means some accommodation is inconveniently situated
