On the slopes

With something for everyone, ski Leysin and your ski holiday will be one to remember. Beginners are able to enjoy the superb ski school and the nursery slopes, which are close to the village, while intermediates will find the wide open, uncrowded blues and reds to their taste. More advanced skiers should head for the Tour d'Ai runs. This is also a good ski resort for boarders, with some great freerider terrain and an ISF Pro Tour pipe.

Ski area :

If you ski Leysin you are in the Swiss ski region of Vaud.

Off the slopes

Leysin, as you might expect from a ski resort that is popular with boarders, has a great après-ski scene. Somewhat surprisingly for a Swiss resort, drinks are reasonably priced, and there's also a range of restaurant choices, from traditional Swiss to popular international. Away from the slopes you can enjoy a range of activities including bowling, a gym and fitness room, and indoor and outdoor pool, parapenting, and some lovely walking trails.

RESORT GOOD POINTS

  • Great slopes for all levels - especially for boarders
  • You are linked with Les Diablerets and Villars for more extensive pistes
  • Accessible for long weekends from Geneva and Sion airports

RESORT BAD POINTS

  • Sunny pistes make for some slush if temperatures rise
  • If you don't like snowboarders - then don't come to Leysin - one of the original meccas for the sport
  • Can get busy at peak times for schools and school holidays
