Where
When you ski Flims, you are based on a hillside 18km west of Chur which is about a two hour transfer from Zurich airport. This ski resort combines several small villages to share the extensive "Alpine Arena" ski region, with 29 lifts and 220km of piste. Flims-Dorf is the original village, and the base station for the ski lifts, while Flims-Waldhaus has most of the hotels.

On the slopes
Ski holidays in Flims enjoy access to "White Arena ski area", the second largest linked ski area in Switzerland. Intermediates will love it - 48% of the runs are red - but there is also excellent off-piste skiing, plus the Crap Sogn Gion World Cup route. Boarders are particularly well catered for, with a permanent Boarder-Park and 2 "in dirt"-halfpipes (one of which is a monster-pipe) on the Crap Sogn Gion, and a Boarder-Park and monster-pipe on the Vorab Glacier.

Off the slopes
There's a good choice of places to eat in Flims, with 17 restaurants offering both regional and international cuisine - try the Restaurant La Cena or the traditional Swiss Fidazerhof. The nightlife is good too - you can start at the Living Room and Stenna Bar, at the foot of the slopes, while the younger crowd enjoy the Iglu Bar and the Legna Bar. Other activities available locally include skidoo, a gym/fitness room, and indoor pool, snow shoeing, and extensive walking trails.
