On the slopes

Ski holidays in Crans Montana offer over 160 km of terrain and with 5 gondolas servicing the area, there's always good snow somewhere on the mountain. Advanced skiers will enjoy tackling the World Cup pistes, while intermediates will find plenty of long, wide red and blue runs. There are three nursery slopes for beginners, plus a Ski School at Grand Signal. And finally, snowboarders can enjoy snow parks at Pas du Loup and near the Plumachit ski lift.

Ski area :

If you ski Crans Montana you are also in the Swiss ski region of Valais .

Off the slopes

The ski resort is made up of two villages, Crans and Montana, linked by a free bus service. Eating out is not cheap (this is Switzerland!), but the food is excellent. For a taste of traditional food try La Cave or Le Mayan. There are also numerous shops and sporting facilities including ten pin bowling, ice skating, curling, a fitness centre, indoor tennis, squash courts and tobogganing. The town also offers great non ski activities including the balloon festival in February.

RESORT GOOD POINTS

  • Large, varied piste area for beginners and intermediates
  • Traditional picturesque Swiss Alpine villages with views as you'd expect!
  • Excellent, gentle nursery slopes with some woodland slopes that are great for bad weather

RESORT BAD POINTS

  • South facing slopes unfortunately get badly affected by sun and go slushy quickly
  • A lot of the accommodation requires bus or car rides to lifts
  • Few challenges for experts - except off-piste
