On the slopes
ski Château-d'Oex ski resort are best for intermediates, but with Gstaad's 250km ski area available as part of the Gstaad 'Superski' pass, there is something for all levels. Snow cover is excellent for a low altitude resort, and won't find many crowds here, but there is quite a lot of travel involved in reaching the different slopes. The trains and buses are organised and run regularly, but this is not for those who like ski in/ski out convenience.

Off the slopes
This is a charming little village, popular with families. Although there are plenty of restaurants and bars - even a few clubs - the après-ski would be best described as mellow. All the basic facilities are in evidence, although there is not too much to do away from the slopes. However, this area is very popular with hot-air-balloon enthusiasts.
