Ski Champéry and realise this is not a skiing or snowboarding resort to learn how to ski. This resort is for those who excel at the sport and this resort offers plenty of challenges on the slopes.

Where?

Located in Switzerland, ski Champéry resort for ski slopes for those who are intermediate skiers or boarders keen to try a new challenge. Located near the base of a rustic village complete with narrow streets and chalets made out of wood, Champéry ski resort is a classic quaint place to relax if you need some time away from the modern world. Buried away in the mountains the ski resort is the picture of a small town that radiates warmth despite the bitter cold.

On the slopes

The Champéry ski resort is not a great idea for those who lack skiing experience or young children because there is only one slope that is appropriate for learners who have no previous experience. On the other hand, for those who have some exposure to skiing and snowboarding this a wonderful place to visit, as most of the Portes du Soleil range is open to skiers. For expert skiers the "Swiss Wall" is accessible to conquer on your own or with the aid of an excellent ski school.

Ski area

If you ski Champéry you are also in the Swiss ski region of Valais and the ski area of Portes du Soleil.

Off the slopes

While Champéry may radiate an image of being a small cottage village there are many restaurants to visit in the evening as well as a few lively nightclubs if you have stamina after a day in the slopes or take a quick energy nap. For those who want to experience the full village experience there are also many tea rooms throughout the town or you can hope on the cable car and take a trip to the top of Chez Coquoz for a standard hot cocoa with snacks. Additionally, in the village there are also several bars for adults who wish to take the edge out of a long cold day if you want a reward at the end of a challenging day on the slopes.

WE LIKE

  • From Champerey you can experience the thrill of skiing to other resorts including Avoriaz, Morzine and Les Gets and skiing across international borders!
  • A gorgeous village with wooden chalets, narrow streets linked to the huge ski area of the Portes du Soleil
  • Intermediate skiers and boaders in particular will love it here

WE DON'T LIKE

  • No runs directly back into the village
  • Not ideal for beginners with only one nursery slope in the centre of the village
  • Slope orientation means they can be prone to slushing as sun and temperatures increase
