This year, ski Mariborsko Pohorje as one of the largest skiing and snowboarding locations in North East Slovenia. The slopes offer snowboarding, skiing & cross country skiing and the town is bustling with plenty of activities to keep everyone happy.
Where
Found in the north-eastern border of Slovenia close to Maribor the second largest city in Slovenia, you can ski Mariborsko Pohorje with the reassurance that this is one of the largest ski resorts in the country. Due to its location in the Pohorje mountain range. you get loads of slopes and trails painted with postcard perfect scenery. Flying is the best way to access the Mariborsko Pohorje ski resort by arriving in Graz (40km) or Ljubljana airpots and hiring a car for transfer.
On the slopes
Ski Mariborsko Pohorje and you get mainly beginner slopes (c.40%) as well as 35% for intermediate/advanced skiers and 25% for experts - this is out of the 60kms of trails and slopes in total. Although the ski area is large, it is not hard to navigate around the slopes of the resort because of the 21 lifts between the slopes and trails one of which is a gondola and three are chair lifts.
Most of the trails wind through the forests, past streams, and around lakes making the skiing experience one that you will not forget after a holiday here. Additionally, Mariborsko Pohorje ski resort has the longest night skiing trail in all of Europe totalling over 7km and 38kms of cross country skiing for those who want to check out the sights. Off the slopes
Due to the location of the Mariborsko Pohorje ski resort, there are plenty of activities both outdoor and indoor for families and people who want to spend a portion of their ski holiday out on the town.
If you want to get the full experience of the area you may take a hiking trail, go ice-skating, participate in horseback riding or take part in curling. For those who want to relax after a day on the slopes the resort also boosts a swimming pool and spa resort complete with saunas. On the other side, for those who are looking for more typical après ski activities the nearby town of Maribor has a casino, plenty of restaurants and bars, as well as a theatre, discotheques, and nightclubs.
