Where
In the North West corner of Slovenia, located near the Austrian and Italian borders, Kranjska Gora is the oldest of the resorts in this Eastern European country. Set against the Julian Alps it makes for a fantastic scenic background to ski and snowboard in. Gaining in popularity with skiers and boarders who want to be a little different, Ljubljana airport is only around 90 minutes away so transfers are relatively easy.
On the slopes
If you choose to ski Kranjska Gora this winter, there's plenty of slopes for all skiing levels, but predominantly beginner slopes - with 13 making up the 30km of pistes! There are four intermediate runs and three expert runs however that makes for a great challenge for skiers looking to explore the craft during holiday near the top of the mountain at 1291m in the air.
22 lifts make it easy to move around the resort slopes with the higher slopes cutting through trees and the lower slopes opening up for less skilled skiers who may long for open spaces to slice through the snow. Another nice touch here is that the mountain is very spacious and the lifts are equally dispersed so there queues are not extremely long or bothersome even during the prime ski season. Also, there are plenty of challenges for those who like to spend their holidays snowboarding and the area is ranked highly for snowboarders as well as skiers.

Off the slopes
One thing that is sparse around the Kranjska Gora ski resort slopes are restaurants, but with a simple trip into the village there are plenty of venues to eat at as well as some options for people who want to try out the local cuisine. Additionally, the village nearby has a wide assortment of nightclubs, bars, and discothèques for those who want to experience the true sense of après ski while on their ski holiday.
For those looking for more family friendly options the beautiful scenery allows for many sightseeing excursions such as sleigh rides and snowshoeing around the area. There's also a heated outdoor pool for those who simply want to relax after a long day on the slopes.
