Where

If you choose to ski Glencoe you can enjoy the superb snows of Meall a Bhuiridh (3636ft/1108m). Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness airports all have regular flights, with driving distances making this area accessible from all over Scotland - for example Fort William (45 minutes), Glasgow (90 minutes), Inverness (150 minutes) or Edinburgh (150 minutes).

On the slopes

When you ski Glencoe ski resort, you can access Scotland's oldest resort and longest vertical descent (800m). There are a total of 17 pistes on the mountain for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy, adding up to almost 30km (200 hectares) in total. The top lift goes all the way up to 1108m and the terrain is a mix of Green, blue and red predominantly, with a two Black runs for the experts. So the skiing and snowboarding in Scotland can offer much to most.

Off the slopes

As you would expect, there is a wide range of accommodation to choose from in the Glencoe area. With Glencoe and the surrounding villages there's a great selection of both food, drink and accommodation, ranging from B & B's through award-winning pubs to comfortable hotels. The nearest major town is Fort William, about 30 minutes drive away.

Where

In the Glencoe area you have all types of accommodation as well as some great pubs and hotels for eating out. With major cities not that far a drive yuo can also choose to take a day out and either go walking or even head for civilisation if that's what you need!

RESORT GOOD POINTS

  • Excellent ski schools and private ski lessons
  • Excellent beginner and intermediate slopes - if a little limited
  • Great for weekends if the weather is sunny and no wind!

RESORT BAD POINTS

  • Very unreliable snow due to the low altitude
  • Overcrowded when snow is present - and especially at weekends
  • Weather - the snow may be great but sometimes the bitter chill is too much to ski or board with
