On the slopes
Ski Valdres and you get lots of features for snowboarders and freestylers as there is a terrain park and a half pipe - Valdres has a reputation for telemark and some of the best snowboarding terrain in Norway! With 45% of the slopes designated for beginners and a further 20% intermediate, this is a good place to learn, though it doesn't offer much for advanced skiers. It's also great for kids, with a designated children's ski lift and a free "magic carpet"/conveyor belt for little ones. So skiing and snowboarding in Norway should be one to consider next winter!
Off the slopes
You'll find there's some great ski-in ski-out accommodation right at the summit of the Valdres ski resort. You also get some good choices for lunch and dinner in restaurants around the resort - and some good bars and hotel bars for drinks. Ski rental is readily available, and there are also 150km (94 miles) of cross country ski trails in the area. Additional winter sports include ice skating and dog sledding.
WE LIKE
- Excellent snow conditions throughout the season
- Good for families and those that want a quiet ski holiday
- You are skiing the sunny side of the mountain - so keeps some of the cold at bay!
|
WE DON'T LIKE
- The biting winds and cold in Jan - March
- Expensive to dine or drink out - Norway is very pricey
- This is not the resort for wild partying - but it does have a good calm 'after ski' scene
