Ski Lillehammer

Ski Lillehammer (or rather close by resorts) for guaranteed snow in beautiful surroundings. Having hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics, facilities are excellent and whether you ski or snowboard you will find Norway a great place to visit.

Where

If you ski Lillehammer you will find you in a quaint little town that played host to the 1994 Winter Olympics. Skiing itself is a short journey away, either at Hafjell (15 mins) or Kvitfjell (50km from Lillehammer). Because it is so far north you are guaranteed snow, even late in the season. On the slopes

So when you choose ski holidays in Lillehammer - you can ski either at Hafjell (just 15 minutes away) or Kvitfjell - it is 50km from Lillehammer, but amidst its 30km of pistes you'll find more demanding terrain and the Olympic downhill for experts. Hafjell is more family friendly, and with 14 lifts servicing 23 slopes, and 40km of skiable terrain, it has a reasonable variety of skiing. Although the slopes only rise to 1030m, low temperatures throughout the winter ensure that the resort always has snow.

Off the slopes

Host to the Winter Olympic games in 1994, Lillehammer is Norway's oldest winter sports resort. Both the architecture and the scenery are wonderful, offering a place to stay that is full of character, but also has the modern amenities you need. If you visit, you must try the bobsleigh ride - with a professional driver aboard, you can fly down the Olympic Bobsleigh track at speeds of up to 120km/h!

WE LIKE

  • A good atmosphere with friendly locals and a great resort village
  • Slopes offer great terrain for intermediate skiers and boarders but also for families and learners
  • SKi transfers are short - only 2 hours from Oslo

WE DON'T LIKE

  • Limited expert runs - some good off piste to keep you happy though
  • Very expensive to eat or drink out
  • If you feel the cold - then in depths of winter this won;t be for you... it gets really cold!
