On the slopes
Nestled in a valley, ski Oppdal for great snow conditions and a long season. This is a good place for beginners - the ski school is rated as one of the best in Norway, and there are plenty of easy beginners slopes to encourage you to progress. Intermediates will find almost the whole mountain suitable for them, while more advanced skiers should head to Hovden for some seriously steep piste and some great off piste challenges.
Off the slopes
There is a variety of accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets in Oppdal, and the après-ski scene can get quite lively, particularly towards the end of the season (late March and May), when the skiing is at its best. After-hours activities centre around the town's restaurants, cafés and bars. Don't forget also to try out the cross-country skiing - over 60km of cross-country trails, and endless off-piste trails.
