Ski Kvitfjell

Ski Kvitfjell for one of the most modern ski resorts in the country of Norway - Kvitfjell was built for the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics. A fantastic ski holiday desintation with plenty of choices both on and off the slopes for entertainment and relaxation.

Where

Found near the city centre of Lillehammer, ski Kvitfjell and you are in a part of Ringebu, Norway, called Troll park, that is often considered a top Norway resort even though the resort it itself is not large. The resort can be reached by plane, rail, or bus but even though the plane is considered the best option you will need to get a car for freedom once in resort. Rail travel may take longer but the advantage is it is cheaper and will save you from the drive.

On the slopes

When you ski Kvitfjell it's not extremely large as a ski resort, there are a good number of slopes to choose from for all skill levels and ages. The Kvitfjell resort was designed by a former skiing champ making it one of the best designed and the most challenging if you are willing to take on the more intimidating trails.

Due to the fact artificial snow can cover up to 80% of the trails, the resort is one of the first resorts in Norway to open and close each year. There are 18 runs to choose from at the resort which are connected by seven lifts to help you move easily between slopes. Additionally you may want to try out the largest run of 3.5km on a snowboard if you are a boarding enthusiast or checkout the 400kms of cross country slopes.

Off the slopes

Due to the fact that the Kvitfjell ski resort is one of the most modern resorts in Norway the village has been heavily commercialized and caters to holiday guests well. Small enough to be charming and personal, those staying at the Kvitfjell ski resort many enjoy the many bars, clubs, and dance clubs that are open in the evenings. For those who want more winter excursion options to finish off a day on the slopes with sleigh rides, ice-fishing, snow rafting, and ice-climbing are just a few of the available choices.

WE LIKE

  • Olympic downhill is excellent and all other slopes well groomed and perfect for learners
  • A charming purpose built resort with loads of chalets for ski-in ski-out
  • Closeness to Lillehammer for citylife and also other resorts closeby

WE DON'T LIKE

  • The cold. Boy does it get cold here in depths of winter
  • Expensive to go out drinking and eating - £7 a beer expensive!
  • Nightlife at resort non-existant - go to Lillehammer
