On the slopes
Unique for its small charm in a virtually isolated area, the Alta ski resort has only one slope that is the length of 1km that suits beginners well. For this reason many people with small children enjoy relaxing at the Alta ski resort as it is a great place to teach kids how to ski without too much interference.
The area also has a children's slope making it perfect for all beginners and a great family excursion. For those who want to get a little more out of their ski holiday the Alta ski resort also has a 5km cross country classic trail which it is predominantly known for. Snowboarders are welcome as well. There is not nighttime skiing given the small cosy nature of the Alta ski resort but there is one lift that will help provide transportation up the slope. With an altitude of 265m and a base altitude of 55m the slope is a gradual downhill that most beginners should be quite comfortable on.
Off the slopes
While taking a break from learning to ski many people enjoy the snowmobiling trails at the Alta ski resort. Also of interest to many families looking for child friendly activities enjoy dog sledding with tours that follow birch forests lining the Alta River or up towards the scenic Altadalen Valley. Alto is also an excellent place to view the Northern Lights and has many local areas of amusement such as the Juhls Silvergallery, North Cape, and Sapmi theme park.
