On the slopes
Ski Sestrière ski resort are probably best suited to skiers at an intermediate level, with over 50% of the slopes graded intermediate. There's a good lift system, and with its high altitude and widespread snowmaking faculties, there is almost always top-class snow. Advanced skiers will want to head off-piste for some steep, challenging terrain, while boarders will enjoy the off-piste, even though they don't have any territory of their own. There are also good facilities for beginners.
Ski area :
If you ski Sestrière you are also in the ski region of Milky Way along with the following resorts; Claviere, Montgenèvre, Pragelato, San Sicario, Sauze d Oulx, Sestriere
.
Off the slopes
Sestrière ski resort is a lively place, with all sorts of options for food and drinks at the end of the day. Pinky Pizzeria is recommended for both for pizzas and drinks, Osteria Barabba offers typical local foods and good wine, while the Cavern has an international menu. Après-ski, popular spots are Irish Igloo (good music), Spotties Bar for cocktails, or if you fancy dancing, Tabata disco. Other activities in the area include ice skating, squash, aerobics, and a fitness room.
WE LIKE
- Resort slopes good for all levels - even experts with some challenging runs
- Part of the extensive Milky Way area so boarders can get to more dedicated pistes
- Snowmaking covers all but one or two marginal slopes
|
WE DON'T LIKE
- Unfortunately the village is a bit of an eyesore and is not an alpine classic!
- Queues for lifts on weekends and peak holiday times can be a 'mare
- Limited après-ski during the week - but livens up a bit at weekends
