On the slopes
Lots of resorts boast about how much terrain they cover, but ski San Sicario it can truly live up to that boast. As part of the Milky Way (or Via Lattea), you'll be able to choose from 145 runs covering 400km (250 miles). And with 92 lifts and 950 cannons, the snow should always be good, and the lines should never be long. This resort hosted several events at the 2006 Winter Olympics, including the women's downhill - so skiing and snowboarding here is fantastic.
Ski area :
If you ski San Sicario you are also in the ski region of Milky Way along with the following resorts; Claviere, Montgenèvre, Pragelato, San Sicario, Sauze d Oulx, Sestriere
.
Off the slopes
San Sicario offers the best of both worlds - the charm of a traditional village, and the convenience of a purpose-built complex. It's a small place, so don't expect a wild après-ski scene, although there are a few restaurants and bars in town, including the Action Café. Other activities include snowblading, torchlit skiing, wine tasting, or an evening out to watch Juventus or Milan football matches.
WE LIKE
- Great ski conditions as you can always be on sun kissed slopes if you know where to go
- Pistes suitable for all standards as 400kms of Milky Way at your fingertips
- About an hour from Turin airport so ideal for weekend trips
|
WE DON'T LIKE
- Close to the resort, slopes are best suited for beginners only
- Is a purpose built resort so not the Italian traditional alpine village
- May be shortgae of English speaking instructors if you go at busy periods
