Off the slopes
Pastel-painted and ornately frescoed buildings make this one of the prettiest ski villages you could ever choose to stay in. The Ortesei main street is pedestrianised, while escalators and walkways provide easy access to the lifts. All of this helps to make this a popular destination for families, although the idyllic setting will also please romantics. The nightlife is quiet, but there is a good range of restaurants and bars to suit all tastes and price ranges.
WE LIKE
- Slightly limited runs close to home - but you have Dolomiti Superski access
- Access to the Sella Ronda and Alpe de Suisi ski areas
- Beautiful traditional town with lots of shopping and a good alpine atmosphere
|
WE DON'T LIKE
- Ski lifts are not linked to Val Gardena - so bus only which is frustrating especially when busy
- Never get much powder and there's not much off-piste anyway
- Resort for some doesn't feel ski resort-ish enough
