On the slopes
Ski Morillon and you first off need to think about whether to get a full area ski pass or just the local pass for Morillon, Samoëns, Les Carroz and Sixt. It is linked to the rest of the Grand Massif ski area by a 12-person telecabine and then various chairlifts. Once to you are into the heart of the Grand Massif ski area you'll find 78 lifts servicing over 265 km of piste, perfect for boarders and skiers of all levels.
With an excellent vertical descent, the slopes close to the resort (and down into it) are a little limited in number, but they do offer some great terain. Morillon has seven of its own lifts and in the Grands Massif there's 2 snow parks, 3 half-pipes and over 265 km of piste
Ski area :
If you ski Morillon you are also in the ski region of Grand Massif along with the following resorts; Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoëns
.
Off the slopes
A family-friendly resort with a pedestrianised centre, ski holidays in Morillon benefit from some wonderful traditional architecture including a lovely 16th century church. A popular second-home resort for the French, there are plenty of good restaurants including the two-star Hotel Le Morillon. Other activities include torchlit ski descents, snowshoeing, paragliding, archery, snow-scooters, and dog-sledding. Even though it is small and quiet there is still a nightclub for those who have the energy at the end of the day.
WE LIKE
- Good selection of slopes with the Grands Massif ski area
- Excellent for families - especially with Flaine close by too
- Access is just 60 minutes from Geneva opening up weekends here
|
WE DON'T LIKE
- Half term weeks bring queues and the weekends are quite choked up on the slopes in places
- Quite expensive due in part to the Euro exchange rate currently
- Not a big party resort - so limited nightlife
