On the slopes
When you ski Les Gets, this lets you explore two main areas locally, the Chavannes Bowl and Mont-Cheri, ski holidays in this resort offer great skiing and snowboarding. Mont Cheri has wide open south facing slopes, mostly reds and blues, and is also the home of the snow park, with its jumps, rails and platforms. There's also plenty of piste of interest to snow boarders. The Chavannes Bowl is very popular, and is filled with blues, reds and some blacks.
Ski area :
If you ski Les Gets you are also in the ski region of Portes du Soleil along with the following resorts; Abondance, Avoriaz, Champéry, Châtel, Les Crosets, Les Gets, Morgins, Morzine, St Jean d'Aulps
.
Off the slopes
There's a lovely mix of accommodation, including traditional Savoyard chalets and more modern wooden-and-stone buildings - whichever you choose they are built to fit in with the alpine surroundings, and many offer ski-to-your-door convenience. This is a good place to bring kids with an excellent ski school, and a variety of reasonably priced restaurants. The après-ski is not as lively as some other resorts, with just a couple of bars to entertain the late night crowd.
RESORT GOOD POINTS
- Good-sized, varied local piste area shared with slightly lower Morzine
- Relatively short drive from the UK
- Few queues locally
|
RESORT BAD POINTS
- Few challenging pistes
- To get to Avoriaz and the main Portes du Soleil circuit is a real slog, unless you drive to Ardent
- Weekend crowds
