On the slopes
Ski La Clusaz because it's ideal for beginners and intermediates - if you are new to the sport or have children, Beauregard is the perfect place to start. There's some great longer runs on the Cret du Loup, while more experienced skiers will want to sample the off-piste opportunities at La Balme.
Intermediate and advanced boarders will also find plenty of terrain to enjoy. While there is extensive snow-making equipment, the lower slopes can get worn on busy weekends.
Ski area :
If you Ski La Clusaz you are also in the ski region of Les Aravis along with the following resorts; La Clusaz, Le Grand-Bornand
.
Off the slopes
La Clusaz ski resort is a typical Savoyard village with a charming church and village square - three main streets fan out from the here, each packed with shops, bars, hotels, and restaurants. It can be quiet at night, but is a great place to go with children, with a child-friendly ice-rink and swimming pool. Accommodation can be somewhat removed from the lifts, so be sure you have access to a car or van, or know the route of the free bus service.
WE LIKE
- Traditional village in scenic setting in the French Alps
- Extensive, interesting slopes for beginners and intermediates especially
- Very short transfer from Geneva and easy to reach by car from UK
|
WE DON'T LIKE
- Snow conditions unreliable because of low altitude
- Lots of slow old chair-lifts - but at least there's lots!
- Crowded at weekends as is a great short-hop destination for UK and French alike
