On the slopes
If you choose to ski Gourette and there will be 21 lifts serving 30km of downhill piste on hand. This ski resort lies at 1400m, with the highest slope at 2450 providing a very respectable 1000m vertical. With a good amount of the skiing above 2000 metres, snow cover is generally good and pretty much snowsure throughout the season. Beginners will feel particularly at home thanks to the green slopes and Le Bézou and also thanks to some great ski schools and instructors. Off the main downhill slopes, there's also 20km of cross-country trails for you to enjoy.
Off the slopes
Gourette is a small ski resort, but there are still 17 restaurants and a nightclub, plenty to keep you busy until early in the morning. For those who find the disco not to their tastes, there is a casino just 8km away which also has a good restaurant. There is also some good shopping in town, and walkers will enjoy hiking along the river valleys.
WE LIKE
- Great slopes for all (except experts) and you are in the heart of the Pyrenees mountains
- Dedicated le Bezou area for beginners - all green runs in it's own area
- New boardercross course over 12 bends and 1km - with a 400m drop!
|
WE DON'T LIKE
- No really challenging slopes for the experts, however lots of advanced and some good off piste
- Not the biggest party town - but plenty on offer if you want nightlife
- Access is a bit of a pain as Toulouse is over 2 hours - so not for weekends
