Ski Megève

If you ski Megève, did you know this is an original jet set destination. Offering traditional French charm, a medieval village and some blatant glamour on and off-piste you are skiing or snowboarding in one of the 'Best of the Alps' resorts.

Where

Oozing traditional Alpine charm, ski Megève and taste the delights of one of the original glamorous French ski resorts. Now on the comeback trail, Megève ski resort is a traditional Haute Savoyard village and has all the skiing and snowboarding you could ever want (it's part of the 'Evasion Mont Blanc' ski area) in the beautiful old town setting. It's also fairly easy to get here from either Geneva, Chaméry or Sion airports or to drive.

On the slopes

Ski Megève and you can enjoy skiing and snowboarding at three different areas, Mont d'Arbois, Rochbrune and Le Jaillet. Intermediates and beginners will find plenty here to interest them, with the first two offering some particularly pleasant skiing below the tree-line. Advanced skiers will need to go off-piste for a challenge, or head to nearby Chamonix or Les Contamines - Argentière is also a short drive away.

If you are looking for snowboarding, then there's now 2 parks and a boardercross run. Not always a boarding friendly resort, they are seeing more and more boarders head here thanks to some great off-piste and on piste conditions. If you need snowsure conditions, then look at the area of Cote 2000/Rochebrune first off.

Ski area :

If you ski Megève you are also in the ski region of Évasion Mont Blanc along with the following resorts; montblanc.

Off the slopes

Ski holidays here allow you to find some great lunchtime sports on the piste, but they tend to be expensive, and in town you'll find plenty of choices to suit every taste and budget. The après ski starts at lunchtime and continues through till the early hours although it is a quite a muted affair if we're honest. For families, there is an excellent ski school, and first-class childcare facilities, and plenty of other activities including snow-shoeing, ice-skating, sleigh rides, paragliding and helicopter rides.

WE LIKE

  • Extensive easy slopes and intermediate challenges too
  • Scenic setting, with amazing views and due to location always get's it's fair share of snow
  • Great when it snows as tree-lined runs with no one on them

WE DON'T LIKE

  • With most of the slopes below 2000m there's a risk of poor snow
  • Lots of slow and old lifts mean queues and slow progress - a real irritant to many
  • Very muted après-ski scene - but some great restaurants and bars anyway
