On the slopes
With 44 slopes, if you ski Levi you will be hard pressed to find an area that has more to offer to skiers of all ages. With the World Cup Slope included in this list it is no wonder that the resort hosted the Alpine World Cup in 2004. Plus, if you like to ski every moment of your holiday you may be delighted to hear that 13 of the slopes are illuminated at night so that you never have to miss a moment. While on the slopes you may also want to take a ride up the mountains on Finland's only gondola that can carry 23,500 people every hour over all pistes including some that measure 2.5kms.
Off the slopes
Levi is a popular holiday town, if you arrive around Christmas you will be delighted to find sleigh rides and plenty of other magical events. During the summer while skiing is limited you can travel the scenic nature trails and take part in many mountain biking events. Known for its wonderful breakfast buffet the resort has plenty of welcome accommodation including many apartment style rentals so that you feel that you are at a home away from home.
Throughout the town there are plenty of places to take a break for a nice meal as well as dances in between ski times to help loosen up and get ready for the slopes. Outside of the dances the local bars host plenty of live music to help you relax if you have any more energy!
WE LIKE
- Amazing set up for families and beginners with loads of gentle slopes
- Good ski schools and instructors for all levels
- Off piste areas offering excellent powder and perfect snow (thanks to the cold!)
|
WE DON'T LIKE
- The slopes are a little boring as there's not a great vertical or long runs
- This is an expensive way to ski - but memorable - so choose your poison carefully
- Can get bitterly bitterly cold - with the wind chill piercing your clothes
