On the slopes

The Harrachov ski resort is best known for its wide range of jumps as it is the host for both the World Championships and the World Cup. With seven jumping ramps for the experienced jumper there are plenty of challenges. Of course, the Czech Republic also has 8.625km of downhill skiing as well alongside of 110km of cross country trails for exploring the beautiful mountains and nearby surrounding villages.

With a total of 5 runs most people enjoy the jumps and landscape of this ski resort as the slopes are best for beginners bringing a nice balance to the unique challenges of the mountain. Snowboarding is also welcome at the resort although it is not as common as skiing. There are also ski schools for those who want to fine tune the sport of skiing who need instruction to tackle the great jumps.

Off the slopes

For those who want to take a break away from the Harrachov slopes the local villages offer shops, restaurants with authentic food of the country as well as traditional meals, and plenty of nightlife entertainment venues. There are bars, restaurants, and nightclubs for those who want to maximize on the holiday portion of their ski excursion to the Harrachov ski resort.

However, as the ski resort is world renowned and well developed due to the skiing events that are hosted the resort is quite built up in itself and many people choose to enjoy the amenities of the area. The local area also offers a cinema and historical museum to those who want an alternative activity indoors that is fun for the whole family while warming up from the slopes.

WE LIKE

  • Good for beginners and intermediates - you will need to buy a ski lift pass for whoel region if you are going to be here for a week
  • No queues at the lifts and very few people on the pistes
  • There's lots of additional winter sports - including ski jumping if you're man enough!

WE DON'T LIKE

  • Very limited pistes so may become bored if you're here for a week
  • Après-ski is lively but this is not the place to come for a big week on and off the slopes
  • Due to altitude on the lower slopes sometimes the snow suffers
