On the slopes
Ski Fernie and the terrain you'll find lends itself perfectly to off-piste powder skiing holidays thanks to the five alpine bowls. With well groomed pistes, a third of the ski trails are classes as green (easy) and they offer wide open spaces to practise your turns! There's a good terrain park and half-pipe for boarders and 14km of cross-country tracks. There's also good ski schools & private instruction.
Off the slopes
With 9 good on-slope restaurants, the Fernie ski resort also has a complete range of eating places and some great bars with live music and dancing. Generally speaking for non-skiers and apres-ski Fernie is great. With a fitness centre, spa cinema and lots of outdoor activities like sleigh rides and dogsledding, the non skiers are well catered for This is a good family-friendly resort as well as offering superb skiing - no wonder it's constantly in the top 10 North America resorts.
RESORT GOOD POINTS
- Good snow record, with less chance of rain than at Whistler (and less chance of Arctic temperatures than at resorts up in the Rockies)
- Great terrain for those who like it steep and deep, with lots for confident intermediates too
- Some good on-slope accommodation available
|
RESORT BAD POINTS
- Mountain resort is very limited
- Still too many slow, old lifts
- Limited groomed cruising for timid or average intermediates
