Where

There's no accommodation on the pistes, hence the 20 min resort to slope transfer times. The mountains all around provide good skiing as well as boarding, but ski holidays in Jasper are more about being in the wilderness and getting away from the rowdy mainstream resorts.

On the slopes

With ski in - ski out of the car park, Ski Jasper Marmot Basin and on offer is access to a unique and beautiful national park, uncrowded slopes, well groomed tree-lined slopes and some great alpine bowls of powder. When you ski Marmot basin you may not get the biggest resort, but great skiing for all levels, boarders and especially families. The ski schools & private instruction is also very good.

There's a wide variety of terrain with some of the best glade skiing in the Canadian Rockies. With long gentle runs, tree-lined trails, open bowls and steep expert terrain you are spoilt for choice. With 84 pistes, 9 lifts (including a high speed quad) and 1,500 acres of pure terrain - what is not to like here!

Off the slopes

Some great bars and restaurants in this rustic town will make your ski holiday complete. Add to that a varied snow activity list that includes snow-mobiling, toboganning, ice skating and dog sledding. For real non-skiers, you have a train journey into the Rockies on your doorstep - plus 5 star hotels with spas ready to accomodate you.

As well as good bars and restaurants, this is a good family-friendly resort that offers a lot of other activities to vary your time here with children. As well as offering superb skiing and boarding, you have snowshoeing, snowmobiling, dog sledding, and ice skating on a froxen lake. There's also some excellent heli-skiing.

WE LIKE

  • Unpretentious ski resort with plenty of skiing & boarding for all, a genuine canadian rocky mountain experience
  • Slopes are well maintained and offer challenges for all skill levels as well as a chance to learn how to ski
  • Amazing scenery set in Jasper national park

WE DON'T LIKE

  • A quite expensive resort compared to some others
  • Being so northerly - can be bitterly cold when wind gets up
  • No ski-in ski-out as the rustic charms of Jasper village are about 20 minutes away
