On the slopes
A great place to learn, ski Scheffau with it's easy runs, modern lifts and a good ski school and get off to a great start. Kids will enjoy the 'KinderKaiserland' ski area, which can be found at the top of the main Scheffau gondola. For skiers who want to cover some miles, the 250kms of the Ski Welt circuit offer endless possibilities for skiing and snowboarding. Including terrain parks and off-piste galore - especially thanks to the 'bowl' that's right above Scheffau village.
For beginners, the nursery slopes can be found at the top of the Brandstadl gondola. With wide and gentle runs, this is a great place to start learning. The Brandstadl gondola is also the route for acessing the SkiWelt ski area for intermediate skiers and boarders. Finally, as an expert, why not try the Moderer run that's off-piste with it's great powder, mogul field and run down to the village - what a way to end your day!
Ski area :
If you ski Scheffau you are also in the ski region of SkiWelt along with the following resorts; Brixen im Thale, Ellmau, Going, Hopfgarten, Kelchsau, Kirchberg in Tirol, Scheffau, Söll, Westendorf
.
Off the slopes
This is a reasonably quiet resort, with a good selection of restaurants and cafés within easy walking distance of the centre. Popular choices include Maikircher, Weberbauer, and the Café Alpenland. Après ski is friendly and traditional in flavour, with the Kingston Bar a good place to check out. Other activities include tobogganing, sleigh rides, and plenty of trails for cross-country skiing or winter hiking.
WE LIKE
- Good selection of slopes close to home and there's a blue and a red back into town
- Some great mountain huts on the piste for drink and food
- Lots of wide and well groomed easy and intermediate runs
|
WE DON'T LIKE
- There's 8 blacks in the SkiWelt but only one close to home
- Night life here is on the quiet side - but that's great for young families - go to Söll for beery nights
- Village loses atmosphere a bit late afternoon and in to evening as most people head out to other resorts for après-ski
