On the slopes
Over the last several years the Rauris ski resort has improved its lift system and terrain immensely as the area now has ten lifts and a gondola to help skiers get around the large slope area. The terrain caters to beginners with over 50% of the runs made for novice skiers, but 35% and 15% of the pistes are for intermediate runs and expert runs respectively.
Thus, there is something for everyone and with a wide powder region on the north side of the Rauris ski resort mountain area there is plenty of fresh snow to glide down. For those just learning there is also a ski school at the Rauris ski resort that has kindergarten ski instruction as well for parents who want to drop their children off for a bit while they hit the excellent advanced runs.
Snowboarders also enjoy the resort due to the large funpark that is complete with a boardercross course. For those who want more slope variety, you can hire a local guide to help discover some of the best off piste trails in the area.
Off the slopes
Although the Rauris ski resort is located in a small, traditional village, the authenticity of the quaint village provides for plenty of shopping at the local shops and cultural activities. The restaurants represent the best of cultural Austrian food and traditional menus. Although the village is small there are some clubs, bars, and nightclubs for those who want to hit the local après ski after a long day on the slopes.
