On the slopes
With over 95km of pistes the Obertauern ski resort is one of the primary Austrian resorts where snow is a guarantee if you go during the season since it reaches a high altitude of 2526m and the resort itself is located at 1738m. The resort caters well to many different skiing levels with a total of 51 runs 22 of which are for beginners for over 120kms. 22 are for advanced skiers. The 25 lifts and one cable car makes it easy to get around the slopes which are uniquely form a circle around the resort so it's easy to navigate the slopes and always end up at a finish point that you can recognize.
Snowboarders also enjoy the snow covered slopes with a snowboard park that caters especially to their needs when they are off the slopes themselves. Overall a great place for a winter break.
Off the slopes
There is plenty to do in Obertauern both in terms of après ski activities and other fun filled family activities making it a nice all around retreat. For those who enjoy pop culture, you may want to take a tour through the village to check the areas in which the Beatles filmed. There's also plenty of local shops and restaurants to try out as well as a lively pub and nightclub scene so that you can relax off the slopes if this is your holiday goal. For families there are plenty of other activities which include but are not limited to a fitness room, bowling, tennis, walking paths, squash, and of course more local shops.
