On the slopes
Ski Maria Alm to get over 90km locally as well as access to the expansive Ski Amadé with it's 860km. Considered an excellent ski resort for beginners and intermediates, the pistes offer some cruisy and some slightly more challenging runs. Close to home, the ski area stretches across Maria Alm, Aberg, Hintermoos, Hinterthal as far as Dienten and Mühlbach am Hochkönig. What it gives you is a great range of skiing for all levels, with a good mix of blue, red and black slopes. Snowfall is good, and is supplemented by plenty of snow cannons, using the latest technology to maximise your enjoyment of the mountains.
Ski area :
If you ski Maria Alm you are also in the ski region of Ski Amadé along with the following resorts; Alpendorf, Bad Gastein, Bad Hofgastein, Flachau, Maria Alm, Ramsau am Dachstein, Schladming, Sportgastein, St Johann im Pongau, Wagrain
.
Off the slopes
This is a small, traditional Alpine village ski resort, so don't expect wild après-ski but this is Austria so it is good and lively! What you will find is a range of restaurants, bars and cafes where you can choose between traditional cuisine, and familiar international offerings. Other activities available include torch lit walks, swimming, bowling, and ice skating in nearby Bischofshofen.
WE LIKE
- Great for beginners and intermediates with Ski Amadé also on your doorstep
- Easy access from the airport to make ski transfers simple
- Small traditional Austrian village with some great slopes and close to Kaprun glacier too
|
WE DON'T LIKE
- Not really a resort for advanced skiers or boarders - but large ski area so a good base
- Après-ski a little limited - but what is, is more traditional and therefore pretty lively
- Limited things for non-skiers to do during the day (or night!)
