On the slopes
Great skiing is the order of the day when you ski Kitzbühel. Beginners should take the gondola to the easy blue slopes at Kitzbüheler Horn, while intermediates will enjoy the wide-open spaces of Pass Thurn. For advanced skiers there are steep challenges at Ehrenbachgraben, plus of course the legendary Hahnenkamm! There's also some great off-piste challenges.Boarders can head to the snow park at the Kitzbühler Horn, or enjoy the free-riding in the Bichlalm area. The Kitzbühel Horn has two half pipes, a quarter pipe and also a new sprint slalom course - meaning there's somethgin for every boarder. Off the slopes
Eating options are plentiful, with Jagerwurzhutte and Panorama-Alm at Pass Thurn popular for lunch, as is the restaurant at Pengelstein. Restaurants in town range from burger bars to gourmet dining at the Unterberger Stuben. Simply wander the pedestrianised streets for a great selection of restaurants and cafés. The après-ski scene is lively, starting early and continuing into the early hours. Popular local bars include the Londoner, Flugel, and Jagermeister, while Take 5 and the Olympia lead the array of clubs. This is a ski holiday you won't want to end and certainly won't forget! ALthough a word of caution - this is an expensive resort, so don't come here thinking you can skimp and save.
WE LIKE
- Large, attractive, varied slopes offering a really good selection for all abilities
- Plenty of off-slope amenities, both for the sporty and not-so-sporty
- Vibrant nightlife and lots of late night bars for partying
|
WE DON'T LIKE
- Snow in the lower sectors close to Kitzbühel is often poor,
- Surprisingly little challenging on-piste terrain, though plenty of off-piste
- Some crowded pistes - especially at peak periods and at weekends when there's good weather
